At NCD Consulting, Inc. we assist planning teams from mid-level judicatories and from congregations move from their vision of a new church to implementation.  We help focus the initial steering committee.  We have consulted with congregations and committees in a variety of denominations.

We offer the following products:

COACHING:

We work to make sure the parties are all on the same wave length much as a "marriage counselor" works with a couple.  We assist your judicatory committee, staff, the local steering committee and the organizing pastor to maintain strong and effective communications.  The coach is not to be seen as a consultant that gives advice or training.

CONSULTING:

The consultant is brought in to share insights and challenge directions, but not to become a part of the project.  The influence of the consultant can be accepted or ignored but at least opens up areas of discussion and possible direction that may not have been considered or dealt with locally.  This can range from a one-time visit to a more long-term involvement.

DEMOGRAPHIC STUDIES FOR NEW CHURCH DEVELOPMENTS:

A Demographic Study can be tailored to your particular circumstances.  Some possibilities are:

• Compare and contrast two or three communities to determine which community offers the best likelihood for successful church planting at this time.
• Examine a single community to determine if now is the right time to plant a new church.
• If a decision has already been made to proceed with the new church, a Demographic Study can describe the community, offering a comprehensive picture of the targeted area.
• An assessment of the needs in the community.  This is useful in developing mission programs for the new church.
• An area-wide study that ranks a number of potential new church sites.
• We conduct thorough research to answer your questions about whether now is the time to proceed with starting a new church.

DEMOGRAPHIC STUDIES FOR TRANSFORMING CONGREGATIONS:

A Demographic Study can provide an external environmental assessment.  This is useful information to have when preparing a strategic plan or marketing plan.  You will also find the Demographic Study useful if your church is engaged in a transformation process.

SITE DISCOVERY AND EVALUATION:

Finding the right temporary and/or permanent location for a new church is critical to its success.  We help you find the temporary site that complements the transition to the permanent site.  We help you find a permanent site that is visible and provides for room for expansion.

STRENGTHENING THE LEADERSHIP OF THE NEW CHURCH DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

We conduct a 1 or 2 day (with 2 days recommended) leadership development seminar for your New Church Development Committee. For the two-day seminar we recommend begining in the evening with some information and exercises, continue for a full day following and then conclude on the third day at noon. Our fee includes several hours of conversation with you prior to the seminar.

Background:This seminar is designed to explore the new models of leadership which are necessary to move the church forward into our post-modern world.

In the past we claimed the success or failure of a new church development was largely due to location. Our motto was, location, location, location.  While location is still one important aspect of successful church growth, it cannot overcome a lack of strong, comitted leadership: both clergy and lay.
